The Grants

Hope Renews, Inc. was established to provide financial support for families with children in approved residential treatment centers (RTC).  These scholarships are made available through the generosity of former parents of these programs as well as from friends of Hope Renews.

In most cases, Hope Renews will provide up to 25% of the monthly tuition for teens attending residential programs and up to 50% for teens attending transition programs when those transition costs are less than the costs of inpatient treatment.  Additionally, the foundation may provide limited travel funds for parents to visit their children while attending an RTC.

Students will be eligible for assistance after he or she has been enrolled in an RTC and the program staff can attest to the child and his family’s commitment to the therapeutic process.

Families are eligible for assistance if the cost of treatment in any given year exceeds 10% of the family’s adjusted gross income (AGI) as defined by the IRS.  In addition to AGI criteria,  Hope Renews can consider such things as: family size, liquid assets and special circumstances like a recent loss of a job or unexpected medical expenses.

Once financial and family circumstances have been reviewed, the foundation will make a comparative analysis of the pool of requests as measured against the assets of and expected  demands on Hope Renews funds.  Award decisions will  be made as promptly as possible.

Hope Renews, in making these grants, assumes no responsibility whatsoever for the quality and success of care received by the child and his family.

How to Apply

Applications can be made at any time after the student has been in the treatment program for at least six weeks.  Exceptions to the six week rule can be made in unusual circumstances.

Families interested in applying for assistance should contact Hope Renews in writing for an application.  In that letter, the circumstances that prompt the request for help should    be described.  The foundation will then send out an application form.

Once an application has been made to Hope Renews, it will be reviewed and applicants will be notified of the decision of the foundation as soon as possible.
