What We Do

ProgramsAutumn Walk

Hope Renews supports families with children in residential treatment for serious emotional disturbances with the following programs:

Hope Line

You have already found the Hope Line portion of Hope Renews. Our website has been conceived organically. That is, we have started the effort by amassing what information we have been able to find from publically available sources. But information needs to be kept fresh and up to date. So we welcome your edits, comments, elaborations, corrections, etc. Especially, we hope you will share with us funding sources we may have overlooked.

Hope Relief Grants and Loans

Hope Renews has provided almost $400,000 in grants and loans to families struggling to keep their children in residential treatment after their own source of funds has dried up. We do so in conjunction with programs which have agreed to be active partners with us. While we have worked with several programs in the past, at present we are only affiliated with Vista Adolescent Treatment Center.

As funds allow, Hope Renews may provide up to 25% of the monthly tuition for teens attending residential programs and up to 50% for teens attending transition programs. In some cases, Hope Renews may provide limited travel funds for parents to visit their children while attending an RTC.

To be eligible, students must be enrolled in an approved RTC. The program staff must attest to the child and his family’s commitment to the therapeutic process.

Families are eligible for assistance if the cost of treatment in any given year exceeds 10% of the family’s adjusted gross income (AGI) as defined by the IRS.

Hope Renews takes the following into consideration when making scholarships:

  • family size
  • liquid assets
  • special circumstances, like a recent loss of a job or unexpected medical expenses, and
  • family commitment to the therapeutic process.

Hope Renews makes awards based on family need and availability of funds. Award decisions are made as promptly as possible.

J.A and Kathryn Albertson Foundation Fund for Idaho Families

Hope Renews and the JA and Kathryn Albertson Foundation have been in partnership since 2005. It is the mission of the Albertson Foundation to provide support exclusively to the people of Idaho. To that end, they have made funds available for Hope Renews to support families with teens in crisis.

Hope Renews has offered grants to low income families with teens needing to go to wilderness, we have helped grandparents struggling to pay for their grandson’s care out of their retirement funds, as well as working with other families.

If you are from Idaho and are contemplating sending a child to residential treatment, please contact Scott Cargle to see if we might be able to help you.
